Bio:
Tony Scardina is an IT professional specializing in Cyber Security who works with tools from leading cyber-security product vendors to keep networks of different sizes safe from intrusion and malicious software. Currently, Tony is working as a Lead Information Security and Risk Engineer
Tony has excelled at keeping private company and government data safe since 2012 through proactive monitoring and scanning of network infrastructure, and also by making changes to systems, networks, policies, and procedures when appropriate.
Some of the customers Tony has done this for include a contractor to a government office at The State of Ohio, as well as a contractor to a department of the United States Federal Government.
Outside of IT work, Tony’s passionate about aviation, and about helping others. Tony flew an aircraft for the first time at age fifteen, and has been an FAA licensed pilot since 2005. Tony’s sense of community service goes as far back as his teenage years, when he volunteered his time to the local Civil Air Patrol squadron, and served as president at his local chapter of Key Club International. Later, Tony’s sense of community service has lead him to obtain a certification from the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Commission and worked for a brief time as a patrol officer in a small urban community in Ohio. In recent years, Tony has used is investigatory and technological skills to combine Open Source Intelligence (OsInt) and standard Network Investigative Techniques (NIT) to locate suspects and witnesses in several cold-case murder investigations, overseas scammers, and foreign adversaries operating in the cyberspace domain.
Tony is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in network systems administration from ITT-Technical Institute in Akron, Ohio (where he graduated with honors), and studied Aeronautics and Flight Technology at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.
